ater this afternoon, I will be meeting with a couple to shoot an engagement session. Steve and I are SO excited to explore a new area and document this lovely couple. Not only am I so excited to work with this couple because they are SO nice but they are also quite fashionable! The bride Ashley, sent me some of her clothing options this morning and I was SO impressed and LOVED that I was able to see her outfits so I could get a better feel for WHERE we should shoot their images. I write this because I feel there are SO many elements that help contribute to a great shoot. I think its important for everyone to FEEL good during each shoot. Whether it means wearing some more makeup than usual, changing your hair up a little bit or wearing something you wouldn't usually wear. Now, don't get me wrong. I don't think anyone needs to buy a new outfit, get your make up done or have your hair different. I simply mean that doing something outside the box sometimes makes you just feel different. At my rehearsal dinner for our wedding, I wore a real 1950 vintage dress that belonged to some woman many years before me. It just made me FEEL different. I felt great and LOVED how it sparkled in the light. I think sometimes doing something out of your ordinary brightens our hearts a bit. It may sound silly but I encourage everyone to do something different from the ordinary. Whether it may be wearing an old sparkly dress or donating your used clothes to charity, do something that brightens your spirit.
This is just ONE example of doing something different. ALL of my clients have been amazing and they have all done something different and new but I wanted to write about just ONE example. I feel even more inspired because my clients do and it helps us see things a bit more differently. I appreciated that I was able to see my clients outfits so I could then find a location that better suits the look they are going for. They wanted romantic urban vintage today so Stephen and I drove around town yesterday searching for a location to suit their style. I LOVE finding new spots and im excited to use our creativity on a new slate today. I write this to all photographers, and all clients to challenge yourselves to think beyond what is right in front of you. Create a scene and a feeling and you might find something new! I also write this to anyone that wants a change. Try something new apart from your ordinary. What was my change this year? Red lipstick.

Be inspired: A section of an Anthropologie catalog. I love the prop she has brought and I LOVE her outfits! It fits perfectly the location. LOVE IT.
